Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar
As the demand to award the Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar
and Dhyan Chand had grown, the sports ministry had
written to the home ministry seeking inclusion of
sports in the criteria for the award. Supporting
the sports ministry, the home ministry had
written to the PMO asking it to decide on the issue.
The Prime minister himself makes the recommendations
for the Bharat Ratna to the President.
